Bryce Harper is an all-world baseball prospect and a pretty cool cat.
He was taken first in the draft after leaving high school early, he's on a major league roster at age 19, and he's already shown enough poise to stand tall while an all-star pitcher embarrassed himself with an unnecessary bean ball and to eviscerate a Canadian reporter after a stupid question. When the Canuck reporter pressed Bryce on whether he'd be boozing up in Canada (where the drinking age is lower), he rolled his eyes and cut him down to size with a hilariously dismissive reply:
"That's a clown question, bro.
The combination of maturity/immaturity/cockiness/coolness put the scribe in his place and set the 'net ablaze with a social network celebration of Harper's classic put-down.
Of course a large part of the humor is that many consider Harper a clown himself: he's been knocked for prima donna antics ranging from his early departure from school to his astronomic salary demands to showboating in the minor leagues and curious fashion choices that initially included smearing his face with gallons of eye black artfully smudged to look like Batman's wings. Or -- some might say -- to look like a baseball clown.
This fun new design celebrates his actions from all sides -- acknowledging his ability to instantly coin a viral phrase, and teasing him a bit for the way he does it. Like all National Fanthem designs, it is not an official product of any player, league, franchise or circus -- it's just a comical piece of original art from our imagination; drawn by hand and rendered digitally as a lossless high-resolution vector graphic for perfect printing. It's available on gravel, navy or red 100% cotton pre-shrunk tees in sizes small through 4XL.
