Scott Darling is still a young man but has already lived a storied life: part adventure, part travel log, part nightmare....but right now it must seem like a fairy tale.

The giant red-headed net-minder showed promise in the pipes growing up a Blackhawks’ fan in the Chicago suburbs, but floundered for a time in his personal and professional lives. Dropped from his college team, Darling bounced lower-and-lower through minor league hockey as his body bloated and partying dulled his talent until he hit rock-bottom in 2011.

Scott kicked the bottle, hit the gym, and steadily climbed back by heeding his father's words: “Just saw the wood that's in front of you.” Four years later his mind is clear, his 6’6” yoga-trained frame glides post-to-post, and he’s starting playoff games for his hometown ‘Hawks in search of a Stanley Cup.

The story, the skills and the personality of this giant ginger quickly made him a fan favorite in the Madhouse, and a game-saving post-season relief performance for-the-ages seemed to crown his redemption.
